Creative Zen Nano Plus ReviewThe Creative Zen Nano Plus is the sleekest new flash ultra-portable MP3/WMA player from Creative, who have a good pedigree in the MP3 and audio arena. At one time match-boxed sized players such as this were very basic. They played your music files and you could skip backwards and forwards through the tracks. Their main selling point was their compact size and it was accepted that features had to be sacrificed to achieve it. This is changing fast and players such as the Zen Nano Plus have features once only available on high spec hard disk based models.
These features include an FM tuner, Voice/FM recording, and Line-In encoding for direct connection and recording from any audio source. This is ideal for those with no access to a computer as they can record music onto it directly from your Hi-Fi using the Auto Synchronization feature. Those with a computer can transfer audio and data files in seconds via Drag-and-Drop and fast USB 2.0 support. The mono colour backlit screen is very small but does allow you to see which track is playing, its length, and how much battery power remains. The battery is claimed to last 18 hours but we take all manufacturer's battery life claims with a pinch of salt, especially when generic batteries are involved as the quality varies between brands, but as the Zen Nano Plus uses tiny AAAs it doesn't matter much; just keep 3 or 4 spares in your pocket. The Zen Nano Plus comes with 1GB or 512MB of flash memory (being a flash RAM based player there is no relatively fragile hard disc to worry about) to store up to 500/250 songs respectively and in colours Black 1GB and White 1GB and Black 512MB
