General Apple iPod Mini 4GB and 6GB Description Notes and Review

The below is commentary on the discontinued iPod minis.

These are the second version of the iPod Mini and they offer some real differences over the original iPod mini 4GB, although none of the differences look like they are cosmetic (i.e. they look almost exactly the same).

The general notes that we did on the first ipod mini were a rambling rant and a half. The full version of our review of the ipod mini is still available by clicking here. On this page we will only deal with the changes rather than rehashing the lot.

Here are the changes:

1. There was only 1 version of the original ipod mini (although several colours). That was a 4GB model. Now there are two versions: another 4GB model and a 6GB mini (again both with a selection of colours).

2. The battery lasts for 18 hours. That's a vast improvement. For years Apple have been the battery laggards, and not just in terms of their customer support for battery problems. The last version of the iPod mini had a battery that only lasted 8 hours. 18 hours is more than double the capacity and more in keeping with the battery capacity other manufacturers have had for years.
